Letters to the editor: Group steals choice from passers-by
Issue date: 4/8/08 Section: Opinion
In light of the men, women and children who have lost, and continue to lose, their lives to genocide, I found the recent deceptively-named "Genocide Awareness Project" manipulative and appalling.
I was also appalled on behalf of my eyes, which can never un-see the graphic images which were so large that no amount of warning signs could keep anyone with business on campus from viewing them.
But why should it be surprising that a group intent on taking away a woman's right to choose would also take away our right to choose whether or not we wish to view disturbing graphic material?
It is very possible for non-consensual exposure to these gory images to have acted as a trigger for someone with post-traumatic stress disorder, particularly women who may have suffered miscarriages, or who are troubled by past abortions.
The key word is "non-consensual," so congratulations, GAP, you are one step closer to your true goal.

Why should anyone be able to "choose" to kill an innocent human life?
Also you should study the genocide comparison. Abortion is truly a genocide.

What about those who agree with the stance that abortion is murder? Why should they be subjected to the gory images? What about someone who has had a miscarriage, but wanted the baby more than anything? Why should they be traumatized by these images? That is the point this letter is trying to make, the group is subjecting everyone to these horrible images, not giving them a choice whether to see them or not. (Continued…)

We are all adults. There is no right not to be offended.
