This past Sunday, the Memorial Auditorium hosted 1,600 guests to cheer on Fryberger contestants, and have a few laughs with the entertainment provided by the fraternities and sororities.
The Fryberger is named and dedicated to the memory of Agnes Moore Fryberger, who taught at U of L for seven years during the 1930s.
The competeing fraternities included: Triangle, Phi Kappa Tau, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Lambda Chi Alpha. The sororities included: Pi Beta Phi, Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Delta Zeta, Alpa Omicron Pi, and Sigma Kappa.
From a "Sister Act" which featured the guys from Phi Kappa Tau dressed as nuns, to "Oh the Places You'll Go" which had the Chi Omega ladies dressed as sailors, costumes and originality of themes were some of the highlights of this competition.
Greek Life Adviser Joni Burke said this competition is "a great opportunity to showcase the Greek system to parents, friends, and alumni."
Burke added that the proceeds of the competition benefit the Panhellinic Council and the Inter fraternity Council, which help with the improvement of the Greek community at U of L, and make the competition a "win-win situation."
Sigma Kappa won "Most Entertaining," Chi Omega and Sigma Chi won "Best Small Group or Solo," and Phi Kappa and Chi Omega won "Best Costume."
